A different Prayer

Best Prayer I Have Heard In A Long Time...

Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in
traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day
and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.

Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young
man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.

Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in
the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to
addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.

Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow
through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are
savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give
us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with
those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

If you send this to 5 people, then you have a chance to touch 5 people. Working for God on earth doesn't pay much.. . ...but His retirement plan is out of this world.

Letter to the Editor

You can click on the picture to read it or below I will have what I wrote and you can read it that way it will be after this paragraph explaining how we got here.

Athens had been dry for a long long time then they got it to a vote and it passed since then our economy in Athens has been booming. But what bothered me was a Methodist Pastor and then other "Christians" got into this war before we even vote on 8/14/07. Every single week in the Sunday paper for months now prior to getting to the signatures to even have it show up on a ballot and ever since this is like starting May or June. But every Sound Off or Letter to the Editor or 90% give the benefit of the doubt has been all about wet/dry. Dang we wonder why people dont believe Christians because they act like this. To be honest I could careless how the vote goes. I will vote to keep it wet but if you read these articles it would make you sick. I did not make the Headline above my letter. "Are Christians missing the point?" The rest is mine I had to cut it down so there were other things in there.

Dear Editor,
Where is Jesus? I ask that question after reading sound off and letters to the editor the past several weeks. The time and the talent it took to write these over whether or not Athens should be wet/dry. I found my heart shattered as to the body of Christ. It seems if I were deciding whether or not I wanted to join any church especially if I were young and saw this battle I would run like hell. Especially after seeing the article on the front page of The News Courier on July 24, 2007 where Jennifer Lord is basically begging for needed supplies for the elderly and the homebound, paraplegic etc.

I called and talked with Jennifer Lord to offer some things we may have. I also discussed our situation and others. You go by a wellness center and watch these mothers, fathers, sitters wrestle these wheelchairs in and out of vehicles and then get the patient out. I know the routine all to well. Satan is winning if we can keep the Body of Christ this distracted and not take care of the elderly and homebound, paraplegic and Veterans we are in trouble. I say we because I am a sinner myself and do not always use my talents to the best that the Lord would have me do. So here is the body of Christ writing all these letters and not one this Sunday was about the situation Jennifer Lord brought to the Body of Christ attention nothing was offered to help her out I am not saying Jennifer did not get response thier was no crying out from the citizens.

So if its wet or dry those without a bedside commode (THAT'S JESUS) or those without a handicap vehicle (THAT'S JESUS) or Handicapped equipped houses (THAT'S JESUS) Shower benches (THAT'S JESUS) Elevated toilet seats (THAT'S JESUS). They more than likely will not be even able to get to vote. Jesus Wept. For Lord when did I see you without all these things? Will God say to us at the end of this well done my good and faithful servants? Dry/Wet? Jesus Wept.

Call Council on the aging and Jennifer Lord? WWJD?
